Yes — both run the same Wren AI GenBI platform: the same context layer, UI, dashboards, and governance. What changes is where it runs, how it reaches your AI models, and how it's licensed.
The open-source project gives developers the context engine and CLI to build their own agents. The commercial self-hosted plans — Business and Enterprise Plus — add the full Wren AI platform on top: UI, dashboards, governance, security, and support. See the open-source page for what's included.
On Cloud, no — frontier models are managed for you and included in your plan's credits. Self-Hosted brings your own models: commercial APIs, or local and open-weight models running entirely on your hardware. See on-premise deployment for the local-model setup.
Cloud is priced as monthly or annual plans with usage credits, starting free. Self-Hosted is an annual license sized by concurrent sessions rather than seat count — use the session calculator to estimate what your team needs, and see pricing for both.
Wren AI Cloud is included within the scope of our SOC 2 Type II examination — eligible customers can request the report under confidentiality terms via our security policy. For environments where data can't cross the network boundary at all, air-gapped deployment is supported on the Enterprise Plus self-hosted plan.
